【摘要】:Roomsformedbyoperablepartitionsmustoftenbeisolatedacoustically.Sound-isolatingpropertiesofoperablepartitionsarespecifiedbyarchitectsintermsofsoundtransmissionclass(STC)andsoadvertisedbythemanufactureronthebasisoflaboratorytestsinaccordancewithTestMethodE90andClassificationE413.Becausenormalbuildingdesignandconstructionpracticesarenotthesameasthoseusedinacousticallaboratories,actualfieldperformanceofoperablepartitionswillprobablybelessthanthatoftestspecimens.Soundtransmissionbetweenareastobeisolatedwilloccurthroughalloftheconnectingbuildingcomponentsinadditiontotheoperablepartition,thatis,floorandceilingslabs,ceilingplenums,commonwalls,etc.Allpossiblepathsbetweentheareasbeingisolatedshouldhaveasoundinsulationperformanceatleastequaltotheoperablepartition.Unlessgoodacousticalpracticeisfollowedinbothbuildingdesignandinstallation,theremaybeasignificantdiscrepancybetweenthesoundisolationexpectedandthatachieved.Becauseofthecomplexnatureofthesoundflankingpathsadjacenttooperablepartitions,itishighlyrecommendedthatallrelatedconstructiondetailsbereviewedbyapersonqualifiedinacousticalconstruction.Thisguidedoesnotspecifyrequirements.However,personsdesiringtowriteinstallationandconstructionspecificationsmayfindthecontentsusefulindevelopingrequirementsforthesitepreparation,andinstallationpracticesnecessarytominimizeleakageandflankingsoundaroundtheoperablepartition.1.1Thisguidedescribesoptionsofintructionsrecommendedtobeconsideredinpreparationfor,andapplicationandinstallationof,operablepartitionsand,tosomeextent,inthedesignofthebuildinginwhichtheyareinstalled.Operablepartitionsarethosethatarequicklymovable.1.2Excludedfromthisguidearethosepartitionsthatareclassifiedbythebuildingproductsindustryasdemountable.Demountablepartitionsarethosethataredesignedandinstalledwiththeintentoflaterbeingtakendownandre-erectedbyacrewoveraperiodoftime,withthecomponentsbeingreusable.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
